This is my attempt at entering the Blog-o-sphere! Most women, or more specifically Mormon Moms, do it already in Utah. And they do it well. "Well" meaning that they have a large following, dedicated fans, and in fact, pulling in a significant amount of money! Some even make blogging a liveable income! That's crazy to me! $70K+ year? And what, all for typing words (like these?), typing up controversial posts, and trying to interpret the world that they live in??
Well...this will be no different! haha. Except...I don't make any money off the website. You will get the unadulterated me.
So here is what you will see on my blog:
1) Lots of outdoor stuff. I LOVE the outdoors. Everything from hiking, canyoneering, peak-bagging, rappelling off waterfalls, camping, and some backpacking. This will be the majority of what I will be writing about. This is where my inspiration, my stress-release, and peace or inner-calm originate from.
2) My original thoughts. My interpretations of the world that I see, my opinions on hot-button topics, and honest commentary of things that are of interest to me (politics, Utah news, culture, the environment, mormonism, secular and non-secular topics, and everything inbetween. To be blunt, this is a way to express or react to news that is effecting me. It may be applicable to you or not. But this is my world and perceptions, with my bias and not. I will do my best to keep things objective. THAT is my natural reaction. Objectivity.
3) Tech stuff. For some reason, I have a knack for technology. My studying Computer Science and and work for a federal defense contractor and deal with IT-related things. I use computers a lot! I user the internet a lot. As a kid, I use to play a lot of video games. Remember the old Xbox Halo LAN parties? We use to do that a LOT with the neighborhood kids. In fact, the rebellious illegal me even modded those Xboxes and loaded them up with 40+ games that you could load straight from the internal harddrive. It even allowed you to play old nintendo classic games and emulators on the Xbox as well and make it a wide-ranged entertainment system. This modding of those Xboxs involved soldering. You know soldering, right? Take some tin and some wires and meld the two wires together to allow a 3rd-party device to bypass the circuitry to allow 3rd party software, all while not burning your fingers or inhaling the sodlering fumes. I was 16 years old when I was doing this. Crazy! Fast forward to now - I don't play a lot of video games anymore but I'm more versed in all-things tech more than ever. Nerd alert! Beware of this bores you. But........I will try to break this down and make it so you can at least understand what's going on; or cool tech to be aware of, helpful software, etc.
4) DIY projects. Yes, you read the right! I do some DIY projects and will show my (lack-of) handiwork here. Feel free to comment, make your own suggestions for improvements, or get a few ideas from me. Here are a few DIY projects from the top of my head: fixed a broken vaccum (short in one of the electrical wires); reupholstered my computer chair due to the cushion being squashed from my fat butt.
5) Health! One thing you should know about me, is that I am a Type-1 Diabetic of over 19 years now!!! I was diagnosed at the young age of 14. Since that time, my body, brain, and ideology has changed and evolved over the years when it comes to taking care of myself and what I eat. I'll share my knowledge, expertise and share personal moments that may help you achieve your dreams and aspirations in life, despite what challenges you are currently struggling with or are yet to deal with (that is a scary thought!).
Hope you stay and enjoy the ride with me and allow me to share my life with you.
